PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
The Credit Analyst position is responsible for evaluating real and chattel collateral to ensure proper valuation and ownership of property. This position will prepare spreadsheets, reports, summaries and opinions for bank loan officers of new, renewal and existing loans. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS - Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews appraisals and collateral valuation reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs construction inspections to verify loan funds line up with work completed, alerting loan officers to any variances.
  • Participates in customer site visits, as needed, to review property and gather relevant data for loan reports.
  • Recommends changes to collateral review policies and their implementation, as outlined in the financial institution’s guidelines.
  • Maintains a good working knowledge of current MA Bank loan products and services, as well as corresponding bank policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Remains current on regulations affecting MA Bank loan products and services by attending department training as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
  • Represents MA Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.
  • Promotes other bank products by staying current on products available in other bank departments; matching customers to new services and product promotions; ascertaining customers' needs.
  • Complies with bank operations and security policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and work area; dressing in accordance with bank dress code; keeping work area stocked with required supplies; organizing workspace for efficiency and appearance; reporting malfunctions of computers and other equipment.
  • Maintains customer confidentiality and protects bank operations by guarding customer’s personal and account information; being vigilant regarding potential information security threats.
  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with regulatory guidelines governing financial institutions and MA Bank policies and procedures by completing assigned and voluntary training; reading and reviewing MA Bank polices & procedures at time of hire and subsequent revisions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and ability to minimize errors in work.
  • General Agriculture knowledge.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement within established parameters.
  • Ability to utilize strong time management and planning skills to meet position deadlines. 
  • Basic knowledge of financial lending standards, principles and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of government and banking compliance requirements.
  • Ability to recognize and seek assistance as needed with unusual collateral review situations and compliance issues and apply standards set by various regulatory entities.
  • Ability to identify and recommend improvements in collateral review process.
  • Proven ability to ensure that all assigned department tasks/projects are fully implemented and completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office including proficiency in Word and Outlook. Working knowledge of Excel software preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete daily tasks with minimal supervision or oversight.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other employees.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
